Bangladesh win U-19 ACC Asia Cup

Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team emerged as the champions of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup thrashing the United Arab Emirates Under-19 Cricket team by 195 runs in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.

Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a massive 282 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then shot out the United Arab Emirates for a paltry 87 off 24.5 overs.

Bangladesh had an unhappy start as opener Jishan Alam (7) was dismissed by Omid Rehman when the score was 14.

After Jishan Alam’s dismissal, opener Ashiqur Rahman and one-down Chowdhury Md Rizwan salvaged their team from danger contributing together 125 for the second wicket partnership before Rizwan was dismissed by Dhruv Parashar when the Junior Tigers’ total was 139 for the loss of two wickets.

Ashiqur Rahman notched up a marvelous 129. His 149-ball innings was ornamented with 12 fours and a sixer.

Ashiqur Rahman was adjudged the Man of the Match. He was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

Rizwan hit a superb 60. His 71-ball innings was laced with four fours and a sixer.

After Rizwan’s departure, Ashiqur Rahman and second-down Ariful Islam put on together 86 runs in the third wicket stand before Ariful Islam was trapped leg before wicket by Ayman Ahmed when Bangladesh’s score was 225 for the loss of three wickets.

Ariful Islam hit an exact 50. He hit six fours in his 40-ball innings.

After Ariful’s departure, Bangladesh batters failed to make any notable partnership.

Ayman Ahmed claimed four wickets in the space of 52 runs, while Omid Rehman captured two wickets instead of 41 runs.
