Temple building inaugurated

Municipal Mayor KM Zakir Hossain inaugurated the construction work of Kalikapur temple under Bonpara municipality in Baraigram of Natore. On this occasion, an inaugural function was organized at the temple premises on Thursday. Municipal Mayor KM Zakir Hossain, Upazila Awami League President Abdul Quddus Miyaji, former chairman of Joaria Union Parishad Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Municipal Councilor Sharifunnesa Shirin, Mohit Kumar Sarkar, Atuur Rahman and others spoke on the occasion. After the ceremony,Mayor KM Zakir Hossain inaugurated the construction work of the temple building cutting the mud with the help of a spade.

Formation of separate upazilas demanded

A view exchange meeting was held demanding formation of separate upazilas of Baraigram and Bonpara. Professor Aminul Haque Matin of Baraigram Government College delivered the keynote address at a meeting chaired by Mayor Majeedul Bari Nayan at the Municipal Conference room on Wednesday. The meeting was addressed by Mahmudul Haque Khokon, Editor of Chalanbil Prabha. Professors Shafiul Hasan Titu and Alamgir Hossain, former publicity secretary of Upazila Awami League Abdul Barek.
Speakers at the meeting said that although Baraigram is an upazila by name, most of the activities including administrative department are conducted in Bonpara. As a result, the residents of the eastern part of Baraigram are suffering from various bureaucratic problems. Therefore, they have sought the intervention of the Prime Minister to form two separate upazilas named Baraigram and Bonpara.


Old man commits suicide

Ashraful Islam (65) of Baraigram in Natore, committed suicide by hanging himself after failing to repay a loan. The incident took place in Moukhara area of Baraigram municipality on Monday. Ashraful Islam is the son of late Abdul Waheed of Teltupi village in the adjoining Gurudaspur upazila. Local ward councilor Atowar Rahman Liton said he had been living at his father-in-law’s house in Moukhara New Garuhata area for a long time. He took huge loans from various people for his domestic needs but could not repay them on time. He committed suicide by tying a rope to a mango tree next to his house on Monday morning when his creditors demanded money from him. Baraigram Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Abdur Rahim said the autopsy has been completed. An unnatural death case has been registered in this regard.

Motorcyclist killed

A motorcyclist named Hridoy Gain (18) was killed and his friend was injured in a collision with a tree at Baraigram in Natore. The accident took place at Ghun area of Natabaria Kalibari in the upazila on Monday evening. The deceased Hridoy was identified as a son of Kohinoor Gain of Tirail village under the upazila.
According to the relatives of the deceased Hridoy went to Bonpara market on Monday with money to buy Eid clothes. On his way home in the evening after buying new clothes, he lost control in Natarbaria Kalirghun area and the motorcycle collided with a roadside tree. He died on the spot. Baraigram Police Station OC Abu Siddique confirmed the matter.
