BGB deployed across country ahead of polls

In a bid to hold the January 7 general election peacefully, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across Bangladesh.

Sources said, a total of 1,151 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country for holding the next polls scheduled for January 7 in peaceful manner.

The members of BGB were deployed across Bangladesh on Friday and the deployment will continue till January 10, officials said.

BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam said that a total of 1,151 platoons of BGB were deployed across the country to hold the upcoming 12th Parliamentary Election in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

He said that, BGB would work as a mobile and striking force ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ to assist the local civil administration
in all constituencies across the country till January 10, 2024 to maintain law and order situation.

To carry out electoral duties, at least two patrol teams will be deployed in each constituency and two patrol striking teams will be reserved in each battalion.

In total, more than 700 patrol teams of RAB across the country will be responsible for maintaining law and order situation.
