Body of Lalmonirhat Swechasevak Dal leader recovered

The police recovered the body of Ferdous Ahmed (48), union president of Svechasevak Dal in Lalmonirhat. On Monday (March 11) morning, the volunteer team leader Ferdous saw the body of Ferdous lying on the side of the road in Nijpara area of Mahendranagar Union of Sadar Upazila and informed the police.
Ferdous Ahmed is the son of Nural Haque of Kalmati Anandabazar area of Khuniyagach Union of Sadar Upazila. He is the president of that union volunteer group.
Police and locals said that Ferdous Ahmed came out of the house on Sunday afternoon at Barabari Urion of Sadar Upazila to attend a meeting of BNP. Even though it was late at night, when he did not return home, his family tried to contact him on the phone and the phone was switched off. Finally, when searching in Lalmonirhat city, his used motorcycle was found at Pran Kendra Mission intersection of the city. But he was not found.
Locals believe that the killing may be due to a dispute over the drug trade, as Ferdous Ahmed, the leader of the volunteer group, is involved in smuggling. However, the police have not been able to arrest or detain anyone in this incident so far.
Locals believe that the killers brought him from the city and strangled him to death in a secluded area in Nijpara village and left him on the side of the road.
Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Omar Farooq said that according to the information given by the deceased’s family, Ferdous took a lot of money and said to attend the meeting of BNP but did not return home. His family has not filed any complaint so far. We are investigating the entire incident. Sadar Police Station recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital Morgue.
