Chattogram Bureau :
Chattogram city Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said, “Anyone who does anything for the financial or non-financial gain or benefit of his family or anyone else is corrupt.” And to cooperate in such work is also tantamount to corruption.
Mayor was speaking as the chief guest at an anti-corruption day event at the CCC conference room in Tiger Pass office auditorium on Thursday at noon.
CCC CEO Shahidul Alam presided over the function while Chief Education Officer Lutfun Nahar, Mayor’s Private Secretary Muhammad Abul Hashem, Town Manager of Marginalized People Living Development Project (LIUPC) Sarwar Hossain Khan, Town Federation Manager Kohinoor Akhter and field level team leader Konika Chowdhury spoke.
The Mayor said there is no universal definition of corruption. We call bribery corruption in the general sense. But it is also corruption if an employee is not present at work on time or in full working hours or 8 hours in the office. Similarly, if you are busy with your own or family work during the office, it also falls into the category of corruption.
Teachers who are now known as the conscience of the nation in Bangladesh are also immersed in corruption. Many people skip classes without going to the classroom. This is also a kind of corruption. Therefore, human conscience must be awakened to eradicate corruption. You have to be aware of yourself as well as make others aware. Then one day Bangladesh can be expected to be free from corruption.
Later, the Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury made everyone present on the occasion swear the anti-corruption oath.
