Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) initiates a drive to eliminate Culex mosquitoes, whose prevalence tends to rise during the dry season nationwide.
Mosquito control workers and cleaners of ten regions of the DNCC have simultaneously started cleaning all canals, drains, sewers and water bodies since November 26, reports media.
Water-hyacinth in large canals, particularly Lautala, Rupnagar, and Sutivola, has been removed using two machines.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md Salim Reza said that Culex mosquito reproduction increases during the dry season. “There is a lot of water hyacinth in the reservoirs.
