DSEX drops down to 3-year low

The key index DSEX of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) plummeted on Thursday, extending the losing streak for four consecutive days.

At the end of the session, the DSEX plummeted by 9 points, closing at 5,517, marking its lowest level in three years. This contrasts sharply with its position on 3 May 2021, when the DSEX stood at 5,511 points.

In the last four sessions, DSEX lost 179 points and the market capitalisation at the DSE fell over Tk9,000 crore.

During Thursday’s session, 122 scrips advanced, 215 declined and 57 remained unchanged.
The turnover value increased by 29% to reach Tk676 crore.
Asiatic Laboratories was the top traded shares, followed by Lovello Ice Cream and eGeneration.
