Aamer Jamal claims 5/23: Easy win for Comilla

A five-wicket haul by Aamer Jamal powered Comilla Victorians to earn an easy 34-run win over Khulna Tigers in their sixth match of the Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Wednesday.

Aamer Jamal captured five wickets at the cost of 23 runs and was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning bowling performance.

After yesterday’s outcome, Comilla Victorians took the third position bagging eight points from six matches, while Khulna Tigers took the fourth spot collecting eight points from as many matches.

Electing to bat first, Comilla Victorians piled up a fighting total of 149 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then skittled out Khulna Victorians for 115 off 18.5 overs.

Comilla Victorians had a solid start with two openers Mohammad Rizwan and Litton Das contributed together 69 runs in the opening stand before Litton Das was bowled out by Nasum Ahmed.

Litton Das hit a captain’s knock of 45. His 30-ball innings was studded with four sixes and two fours.

After Litton’s dismissal, Mohammad Rizwan could stay at the crease for a short period as Rizwan was trapped leg before wicket by Nasum Ahmed when Comilla’s total was 70 for the loss of two wickets. One-down Will Jacks and second-down Towhid Hridoy added together 29 runs for the third wicket partnership before Jacks was dismissed by Mohammad Wasim when Comilla’s score was 99 for the loss of three wickets.

Fourth-down Jaker Ali and fifth-down Mahidul Islam built a notable partnership scoring together 30 runs in the six-wicket stand before Mahidul Islam (10) was dismissed by Faheem Ashraf when Comilla’s total was 148 for the loss of six wickets.

Will Jacks, Mohammad Rizwan and Jaker Ali added 22, 21 and 18 (not out) runs respectively to the Comilla total.
Nasum Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf bagged two wickets each instead of 21 and 25 runs respectively.

Mohammad Wasim picked up one wicket conceding 37 runs.

Later, Khulna Tigers lost their wickets in regular intervals.

Mohammad Wasim, Nahidul Islam and Anamul Haque added 23, 21, 19 runs respectively to the Khulna total.

Tanvir Islam captured two wickets at the cost of 29 runs, while Will Jacks, Mustafizur Rahman and Aliss Al Islam picked up one wicket each for 14, 17 and 30 runs respectively.
