EC commissioner Brig Gen Md Ahsan Habib Khan (Retd) on Sunday said that it is the Election Commission (EC) duties to provide security while the candidates’ responsibilities to bring voters at centres.
“EC will ensure security as the voters would cast their vote without any fear and reach home safely”.
He made the remarks while briefing journalists after a view exchange programme with Barguna and Patuakhali districts returning, assistant returning officers, law enforcement agencies, election related officials ahead of second, third and fourth phase upazila parishad elections held at Barguna Shilpokala Academy auditorium.
Commissioner Ahsan said we have observed in few places terrorist activities are still prevailing. Few candidates support them resulting they have been lost their candidacy.
“EC will use mike for inviting voters to come voting centres and cast their vote. Law enforce agencies will operate combing operations to avoid any kind of untoward situation. We are hoping that people will feel enthusiast to go voting centres and with safety and security they go back home”.
Brig Gen Md Ahsan Habib Khan (Retd) said in our all activities, the accountability, responsibility, cordiality and professionalism has been reflected. EC is a limited institution but a vast majority of organizations have involved with us. Divisional administration, district administration, law enforce agencies have helped us to organize a credible elections. As a result, the electoral environment is improving gradually.
