The nation has made thorough preparations to honour and remember the martyrs of the language movement at Central Shaheed Minar on Wednesday.

People from all walks of life will come together to pay their heartfelt tributes by laying floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar in respect of the brave souls who sacrificed their lives to establish the rights of the mother tongue, Bangla, in 1952.

The day holds significance beyond borders, as UNESCO recognized Ekushey February as International Mother Language Day on November 17, 1999.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, the premises of Central Shaheed Minar and its surrounding streets have been adorned with vibrant paintings, graffiti, and select verses celebrating the mother language.

Security measures have been significantly heightened in the Central Shaheed Minar area, with closed-circuit cameras installed and strict security protocols enforced to prevent any untoward incidents.

The police have assured the public that there are no security threats surrounding International Language Martyrs Day.

Additionally, various specialized teams including bomb disposal units, SWAT teams, fire services, medical teams, and others will remain on standby at a safe distance to address any emergencies.

Continuous search operations and patrols will be conducted round-the-clock in the Shaheed Minar area to maintain utmost vigilance and security.

A stage has been set up on the front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for announcements. Besides, control rooms for the police, RAB, and a first aid camp have been positioned on the premises of Faculty of Law of DU.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tribute to the altar of the central Shaheed Minar by placing wreaths respectively at the first moment of February 21.

Later speaker of the National Parliament, Chief Justice of Bangladesh, Ministers, Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament and Opposition Leader of the National Parliament will pay worthy.

After that, the chiefs of the three forces, respected Language Soldiers, DU Vice-Chancellor will pay homage. Later the common people will be allowed to enter the Shaheed Minar premises.

The Dhaka University (DU) administration issued a road map to observe the day smoothly. According to the route map, people will enter to the Shaheed Minar through the Palashi crossing, and the road in front of Salimullah Muslim Hall and Jagannath Hall.

After placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar people would exit the place through the roads in front of the university playground, Doyel Chattar and Chankharpul via in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Moreover, the road on the east of Jagannath Hall from TSC and the road from VC Chattor to Fuller Road crossing will remained closed.
