The main opposition party-BNP Secretary General MirzaFakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said a monster is destroying Bangladesh.

“A monster with her destructive rage is destroying everything in Bangladesh.

Now it seemes that Bangladesh is no more a country,” he said while addressing an Ifter mahfil at National Press Club organised by Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).

BFUJ President Ruhul Amin Gazi presided over the programme.

BNP Standing Committee Members Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, BFUJ Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury, DUJ President Shahidul Islam, General Secretary Khurshid Alam, among others, were present in the event.

“The entire nation is passing a dire situation where no one could get rid of from the panic of this fascist government,” Mirza Fakrul said.

“We have lost of all our institutions from that time when we lost the democratic system to the hand of Awami League,” he said.

The only institution is media where people from every corner trying to keep faith, were also destroyed by this fascist government, he added.

“They shut down newspaper, televisions, tortured and made disappearance those who wrote the truth against the government,” the BNP leader said.

By using Digital Security Act (DSA) and other laws, the government imprisoned journalists and killed them, he alleged.

“It is difficult to believe that Bangladesh is a sovereign and an independent country anymore. An aggressive and fascist regime has sat on state’s shoulder.

“We, the leftist and rightist politicians have started joint movement against this fascist regime. The police have run a brutal crackdown to destroy our October 28 grand rally,” Mirza fakrul said.

“Many people are thinking the BNP’s movement has ruined after October 28 crackdowns, but I want to say the movement has assumed more energy to continue struggle against this autocratic government,” he said.

BNP Secretary strongly condemned Israeli atrocities against Palestinian people saying that the Gaza people could not perform their fasting as Israel is bombing and using food as a weapon.

“The Palestinian is struggling with hunger and world community fears about famine in there,” he said.

It is matter of sorrow that the Muslim world those who claimes worked for Muslims’ could not stand beside the Palestinian with their enough support, Fakrul alleged.
