Graft case against Mirza Abbas verdict deferred again

A Dhaka court on Thursday fixed January 24 to deliver judgment in a case filed against BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas on the charges of amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about it.

Judge Manjurul Imam of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka fixed the new date as the verdict it was not ready for delivery on Thursday.
Earlier on November 22, the court fixed November 30 to deliver the verdict in the case after the hearing the arguments of the case concluded. Later, Judge Manjurul Imam deferred the verdict to December 28.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on August 16, 2007, filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station for allegedly amassing wealth of  Tk 7.54 crore illegally and concealing information about wealth worth Tk 57.26 lakh.

ACC Assistant Director Md Khairul Huda after probing the case submitted the charge sheet of the case on May 24 of 2008, accusing Mirza Abbas of amassing wealth of Tk 4.23 crore illegally. The court on June 16, 2008, framed charges against Mirza Abbas.
