Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of ruling Awami League, celebrated its 75th founding anniversary on Thursday.
The student body came into being on January 4 in 1948 at the instruction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Awami League (AL) General Secretary and also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the function at the Aparejeo Bangla of the Dhaka University.
While addressing the rally, he said, “although BNP is expecting sanctions from across the Atlantic with a target to oust the government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not scared of any kind of sanctions. She fears only Allah. She loves the people of the country. We don’t care about the threat of any foreign power.”
Terming the 12th National election scheduled to be held on January 7 as a ‘final game’, Quader said, “Where is the BNP, where have they fled? Why did they run away? They have received red card for foul playing.”
Accusing Tarique Rahman of giving instructions to his party men to carry out bomb attack, the AL leader said, “Now they have resorted to bomb blasting to create panic across the country.
