Laxmipur Ramgati Upazila Sramik League Member Secretary Md. Jobair Hossain has been accused of raping a pregnant housewife (20). In this incident, on Sunday (28th January) night, the housewife’s mother filed a case against Sramik League leader Jobair and his associate Shahadat Hossain.
The investigation officer of the case and Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ramgati Police Station Shahnur Alam confirmed the matter to the media saying that the victim housewife gave a statement in the court of the Senior Judicial Magistrate on Monday. The accused will be arrested soon.
According to the statement of the case, the housewife is a resident of Charneyamat village of Charalgi union of the upazila. About four months ago, she got married to a rickshaw puller from the neighboring Char Sekander village.
Now she is two months pregnant. He was going to his father-in-law’s house after hearing about his mother-in-law’s illness on January 20.
On the way, the accused tightened his face from behind on Sufirhat-Banglabazar paved road in front of Maulvi Bazar of Char Sekander village. At one stage Sramik League leader Zobair forcibly took him to the back room of his private office.
He later raped her. He threatened that he would be killed if she told anyone about the incident. Another accused Shahadat was guarding outside during the incident.
Accused Sramik League leader Jobair is the son of deceased Khurshid Maulana of Char Sekander village of Char Algi union of Ramgati upazila. The other accused Shahadat is the son of Saha Uddin of the same area.
