A businessman named Ashikul Molla Babu tried to commit suicide after strangling his wife and two children at a place called Mollapara of Charikhola Union of Sadar Upazila of Nilphamari. The incident took place in Darwani Bandarbazar Mollapara village area of the upazila on Friday morning.
The deceased are Ashiqul Molla Babu’s wife Tahura Begum (30), her elder daughter Tanya Akhter (11) and younger daughter Zareen Akhter (6).
Ashikul Molla Babu’s younger brother Zakir Hossain Molla said that everyone saw him (Ashikul Molla Babu) walking with his throat cut in the morning and when he was taken to Nilphamari General Hospital, the doctor there referred him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The brother was a bit mentally broken after suffering financial losses in the business. It is believed that this can cause such incidents.
Nilphamari Sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Tanvirul Islam confirmed the matter and said, “We are working on the spot.” The person was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition. After investigation, legal action will be taken.
