International Nurses Day is being observed on Thursday across the world including Bangladesh as a day of recognition and respect for nurses who are serving unique responsibilities in human service. The day also happens to be the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, an English nurse who was also a social reformer and a statistician.
Bangladesh Nurse Association in Kishoreganj district including Civil surgeon Office arranged a colour full rally, discussion, postering, cultural function and services in hospital and clinics marking the day. A discussion meeting held at Kishoreganj general hospital conference room on Thursday morning.
Deputy Director (DD) in Kishoreganj General Hospital Dr Md. Helaluddin attended as chief guest while Nurses Association, Kishoreganj president Nazriya Begum presided over. It was addressed among others by Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr. Saiful Islam, as special guest, Deputy Civil surgeon (DCS) Dr. Zahurul and Nurses Association leader Brother Halim Talukder.
DD Dr. Md. Helaluddin said that, International Nurses Day also happens to be the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing.
BSS from Jashore adds: The International Nurses Day was observed at Jashore Science and Technology University on Thursday with the theme ‘Invest in Nursing and Respect Rights to Secure Global Health’.
On the occasion, a discussion was held at Nursing and Health Science Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib academic building this morning.
With Dr Md Tanveer Ahmed in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Dr Md Mehedi Hasan, Dr Md Jafirul Islam, Dr Mrittunjoy Biswas, Lecturer Sharmin Akhter Sumi and Prof Md Nasim Reza. A joyous rally was also brought out in the district town marking the day.
