Staff Reporter :
In a fiery speech at a rally organised by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the main opposition party BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir accused an “invisible power” of usurping control of Bangladesh, claiming that the Awami League government is no longer in charge.

The rally was held in front of the BNP central office at Nayapaltan on Saturday.
Fakhrul stated, “The Awami League claims they are running the country. Are they really? An invisible power is now dictating everything. Under this shadowy influence, the Awami League has stripped away the rights of the people.”

The rally, organised to demand the release of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and other incarcerated party leaders, highlighted concerns over alleged misuse of the judiciary for political suppression.

Fakhrul accused the government of weaponizing the judiciary to persecute opposition activists, stating, “This government has politicised the judiciary to cling to power by falsely implicating opposition activists in cases.”

He warned the government that no regime, including those of historical figures like Namrud, Pharaoh, Hitler, Ayub Khan, or Ershad, could sustain itself through repression and torture.

The event was chaired by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Senior Vice President Mamun Hasan and moderated by General Secretary Monaem Munna. Among the notable speakers were BNP Standing Committee Members Mirza Abbas and Gayeshawar Chandra Roy, Vice-Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Abdus Salam, Joint-Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, and Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny.
