JS body on Jute & Textile meet held

The sixth meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the Jute and Textile Ministry was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday.
Committee Chairman Mirza Azam presided over the meeting, said a press release here.
The meeting discussed the overall development progress of different ventures, including Sheikh Hasina Nakshi Polli, Sheikh Hasina Specialized Jute Mill in Jamalpur, Sheikh Hasina Tant Polli, Sheikh Hasina Sonali Aansh Bhaban, Sheikh Hasina Textile Engineering Colleges in Jamalpur and Madaripur and ‘Golden Bag’ and ‘Viscose’ projects.
The committee recommended finishing the projects within the stipulated time, added the release.
The committee also recommended inviting the stakeholders under the Clothing Act, 2018 to the standing committee meeting to exchange views on how to improve the existing relationship with them.
Committee members Jute and Textile Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, members of the parliament- Moazzem Hossain Ratan, Ranjit Kumar Roy, Shaheen Aktar, Abdul Momin Mandal, Khadijatul Anwar and Tamanna Nusrat attended the meeting.
Jute and Textile Secretary, Chairman of Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC), Director General of Jute and Textile directorate and concerned officials of the ministry and parliament were present.
