Nahida named ICC Women’s POTM of November

Nahida Akter of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team has been named the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Player of the Month (POTM) of November.

She is the first Bangladesh woman, who has won this award. Earlier, Nahida Akter her compatriot Fargana Hoque and Sadia Iqbal of Pakistan have been nominated ICC Women’s Player of the Month of November.

Nahida Akter defeated the two other female cricketers to become the ICC Women’s Player of the Month of November. Nahida Akter made history as she is the first female cricketer of Bangladesh to win this award.

Pakistan Women’s Cricket team arrived in Bangladesh in October-November to play three-match One Day International (ODI) series and three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against the hosts Bangladesh.

The cricket meets were held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur. Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team defeated Pakistan Women’s Cricket team by 2-1 in the three-match ODI series.

Nahida Akter, the left-arm spinner captured altogether seven wickets in the ODI series in November.

Nahida Akter was adjudged the Player of the Series. She is the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh Women’s Cricket in November and also the participating countries of the whole world in that month.

Nahida Akter claimed three wickets in the space of 26 runs in the last ODI against Pakistan.

Her bowling average was 14.4 in that series.

After becoming the ICC Women’s Player of the Month of November, Nahida Akter said, “This moment is for celebration. It is something special for me as I have been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month of November by the specialists’ panel of the International Cricket Council.

I am highly delighted and I think the award gives me inspiration in future.”

Meanwhile, Travis Head of Australia has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month of November. He was the player of the Australia World Cup squad.

He showed an outstanding performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup, which concluded on November 19 in India.

The other cricketers, who have been nominated for the Player of the Month of November, are ace batter Glenn Maxwell of Australia and pacer Mohammed Shami of India.

It may be mentioned that a voting academy of the ICC and the votes of the cricket supporters have elected the ICC Women’s Player of the Month and also ICC Men’s Player of the Month.

90% votes of the ICC specialists’ panel and ten percent votes of the supports have elected the ICC Women’s Player of the Month and ICC Men’s Player of the Month.
