Driver killed in Tangail accident

A covered van driver was killed in a head-on collision at Nagar Jalfai area on Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Babu Mia (28), son of Setu Mia of Muradpur area of the capital. Confirming the incident Yasser Arafat, In-charge of the Elenga Highway police outpost said, a bus of National Travels was heading towards Dhakafrom North Bengal. While reaching on the spot, a head-on collision happened with a small covered van coming from the opposite direction. Due to this, the front part of the bus was twisted and the covered van overturned on the street. At that time, covered van driver’s right hand cut off and it detached from the body leaving him dead on the spot.” ”Bus driver Jahangir Hossain was also critically injured in the incident and was admitted to Tangail General Hospital”, the In-charge also added.

Seminar on dev of renewable energy at BRU

11 held for using drugs

Some 11 persons were arrested on charge of allegedly taking drugs conducting a drive by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Rehaichar in the town on Saturday night. RAB official familiar with the drive said, an operation team of the elite force from Chapainawabganj camp conducted the raid under the audience-gallery of Daktar AAM Mesbahul Hoque Stadium at 10.30 pm on detective information. During the drive, the team, as it said, found them consuming drugs and arrested them. Later, the arrested persons were handed over to the police with filling a case.
