On the 342nd day of Mujib’s year, Ishwardi’s two accomplished children had been given life membership of Ishwardi Upazila Press Club. They are freedom fighters DIG (Retd.) Md. Mahfuzul Islam Ranju and Colonel (Retd.) Md Abdul Gani for their contribution to the nation during the war for independence of Bangladesh.
A discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Press Club at 9 pm on Tuesday on the occasion of awarding honourary membership. President of Ishwardi Upazila Press Club Touhid Akter Panna presided over the function while Bir Muktijoddha and Colonel (Retd.) Md. Abdul Gani spoke on the occasion. Press Club Vice President Bipul Joardar, Vice President Ashraful Abedin, Vice President Ed. Hedayet Ul Haq, General Secretary AA Azad Hannan, Co-Organizing Secretary Russell Talukder, Sports Secretary Mamunur Rahman, Office Secretary Sirajul Islam and Executive Member Momin Uddin among others. spoke The President of the meeting formally announced the honorary lifetime membership in the presence of all. Later, A special concert was organized in their honour by the Vice President, eminent lyricist, composer and vocalist Ashraful Abedin and a special issue of Ishwardi’s widely circulated weekly Vijaydeepta was handed over to Colonel (Retd.) Md. Abdul Gani.
