IGP asks BNP to hold golden jubilee celebration

Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has asked the BNP to hold indoor programmes with the permission of local police authorities when BNP leaders approached to celebrate golden jubilee of independence.
A team of BNP gets meeting with IGP at the police headquarters in this regard on Wednesday, said the police headquarters in a press release.
BNP chairperson’s advisory council member
 Abdus Salam, Bijon Kanti Sarker, publicity affairs secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, and freedom fighters affairs secretary Joinul Abedin were present at the meeting.
The BNP representatives told the IGP about the month-long programmes to celebrate golden jubilee of independence in Dhaka and other areas of the country.
They urged the police authorities for permission with securities of their programmes, they added.
The IGP asked BNP to hold their programmes indoor by maintaining health guidelines due to covid-19 situation. But in that case they need to take permissions from the local police authorities.
