A union parishad member was shot to death by miscreants inside a government office in Bagaichhari upazila of Rangmati district on Wednesday afternoon
Deceased Bijoy Chakma was the member of ward No. 1 of Rupkari union.
Local sources said two armed men came to the upazila project implementation office at about 12:45pm by a motorcycle and opened fire indiscriminately that left Bijoy dead.
After that, the criminals immediately escaped the place opening fire in the air.
Confirming the matter, Bagaichhari Police Station sub-inspector Sayeed Asad said being informed, the BGB and police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the office.
The reason behind the murder could not be known yet, he added.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s family blamed PJSS Santu Larma’s group for the incident.
