Water-logging to be resolved very shortly : CCC Mayor

City  Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin  said that water-logging problem in Chittagong city would be resolved very shortly  with the implementation of Tk 5,000 crore project.
The mayor said with a view to implement the project titled "Chittagong Flood Control and Water-logging Management System", the Chinese company 'Power China' has already completed a feasibility study on the project at a cost of Tk. 47 crore. The mayor said, "Chinese government financed project would be implemented in three years following approval of the Bangladesh government".
AJM Nasir Uddin said this at a presentation ceremony of the feasibility study report of the project at Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) conference room on Sunday .City  mayor said during nearly last two years, projects has been  implemented to build wall of the Karnaphuli River, set up pump houses with regulators in all canals and prepare another Detailed Project Plan (DPP) for dredging the canals. The mayor also said he is relentlessly trying to solve the water-logging problem with all concerned departments and stakeholders under short and long term plans.  With the permission of the government Chinese government will implement the project within three years in G2G process and there is no alternative solution for the water-logging problem, he added.
CMCCI seeks special allocation for Ctg: Addressing the Pre-Budget discussion with the Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Mohammad Nojibur Rhaman held at Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CMCCI)  on Sunday afternoon,  CMCCI chief said, "Chittagong needs special allocation for development of Chittagong Port, the prime sea port of the country."
NBR Chairman Nojibur Rahman categorically agreed to form an arbitration committee to solve the disputes in  export and import said.
 "The next budget will target saving the local industries, creating of jobs and business, investment friendly environment in Bangladesh."
Among others, CMCCI Vice-president A M Mahbub, Member of NBR Barrister Jahangir Hossain, CMCCI Directors Mohammad Shahab Uddin Alam, Abul Bashar Chowdhury, Mohammad Abdul Awal, Mohammad Abdus Salam, Shafiq Uddin, Aminuzzaman Bhuiyan, M A Malek, Liakot Ali Chowdhury, Mohammad Lokman Hakim, W R I Mahmud and Sultana Shirin Akter addressed the meeting.
