The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested another person in connection with the triple murders in Moghbazar. DMP Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman said, police nabbed Arif Howlader on Tuesday night from Demra, on the outskirts of capital Dhaka.Police have, so far, arrested four people in the murder case filed on Aug 29. A group of miscreants had shot and killed three people after raiding a house at Sonalibagh on Aug 28.The dead were identified as the house owner, Brishty Aktar, alias Ranu, 30, her tenants 'Munna', 22, and Billal Hossain, 20. Ranu's brother 'Hridoy', 18, was wounded in the attack.Ranu's younger brother, Shamim, aka Kala Chan, general secretary of the Awami League's Maghbazar railway unit, had filed the case, accusing 15 people including local 'criminal' Kala Babu.On the early hours of Aug 30, police arrested two suspects, 'Faruk' and 'Sohel', from Moghbazar. A Dhaka court, later same day, sent them to five days' remand after police produced them before the court. The following day, police nabbed 'Jony', who has been named in the murder case along with the duo.The other accused in the case include Kala Babu, Faisal Ahmed Rony, 'Shahdat', 'Raju', 'Topu', 'Arif', 'Maruf', 'Billal', 'Thandu', 'Siraj' and 'Picchi Rony'. Ranu's family claimed that Babu carried out the murders, after trying to extort money for some time.Police, however, believe the murders were the results of a dispute between Babu and Kala Chan over the possession of a plot of Bangladesh Railway land that had been encroached on.
