Blood-soaked Vernacular

28 February 2020

--Rabiul Husain

A deep darkness covers all over the universe
Invisible emptiness is the backbone of the sky
Innumerable Planets Stars Suns Moons Constellation Thus
All are the alphabets of language nebula high

Bright ornaments of empty light spread all over
Heart-soul of aerial path suddenly adorned mother and earth
Darkness is translated super naturalness in light there
They are the language-measure of ignorance scale of emptiness worth

They are the true caravan-mate in darkness unknown
Symbol of veteran tour guide competent usher
Walking of darkness holding hand in hand with light shown
Sparkling go on in shoulder to shoulder to volunteer

On this International Mother Language Day aforesaid words echo fully
Bangla of Bangali relates to every standard language
Seeds of independence now fully a tree an invaluable lapis-lazuli
Her every alphabet imperishable blood-soaked vernacular is free always

O river, eternal river
--M Mizanur Rahman

O river,
If I plunge unto your breast,
I shall take my bath,
I shall have the mirth,
I shall have your song and
I shall sing the song for you.

If the sky would be as such
A tender love for you, river,
I would keep my heart abreast,
I would forget all sorrows
and hear your name
unto the song of its eternity.

O river,
If you keep tears of all people
abreast your heart,
All soils of this earth
would have been drenched,

Flowers and fruits and corps
would yearn happiness for all
And all sorrows would have been flown away
like balloons
And in each abode in each morn
would have seen abounding
with peace and happiness.

O river,
So you come to me beside my dwelling place,
I would like to pass my eternal life
with you.

O river,
If you soak my soil with your ebb and tide,
Far-flung sea unto you would be my pride;
My lips would smear with wines of love
of my heart.
So you flow as you can with your come and go
through thousands and thousands of years
For you are the river of love.

You stay with me
with rhymes and rhapsodies of music
from here to eternity.
O river,
I know of your tender heart for thousand
of years.
The boisterous surges of your youth
smash the brims both the sides I know,
And you pave alluvium on the other side
for green woods
that 1 also know.
O river,
1 can't live without you.
And as such my heart desires you
 from here to eternity.

How do you measure
success?
--Tahia Tabassum

How do you measure success?
You are curious to make progress.
Progress is not a very smooth way;
A great patience to have, nay.

A straight look to stare at
To fix yourself to get.
A firm obstinacy to be with,
Fright is obviously to quit.

False and faint will be erased
Or your stamina will be belated.
A fatal goal will make you winner,
Believe that you are the ultimate gainer.

Success and progress is not easy,
You have to be passionate and busy.
Love to do what you are doing
And submit yourself to God’s willing. n
