4 burnt in fishing boat fire, 4 missing

Chittagong Bureau :
Four boatmen  sustained burn injuries and four more went missing in a fire  of  engine  fishing boat in Feringi Bazar area of Karnaphuli River under Sadarghat thana  in the port city yesterday .
The reasons  of fire could not be known immediately. The injured are - Nur Uddin, 43, Liton, 30, Akber, 30 and Alamgir, 45.  Amongst them, Liton's condition is critical. Sadarghat thana police sources said  coast guard forces  on patrol here in cooperation of  other boats in the river rescued the  fire victims from the boat and later sent to Chittagong Medical College hospital .
 The injured are not under treatment in burn unit of the hospital, sources said. Another  boatman(maji) of nearby boat Jahangir told the fire services men that  there are 8 boatmen on board  and the remaining four went missing
Eye witnesses sources said the fire originated around 10:55am and soon smoke covered the entire area.
Fire Services  sources  said that on information, a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and a coast guard team took position in the area. The fire afftected  fishing boat - FV Sanjida Akher  and  Haji Monir Ahmed is the owner of it,  sources said.
