Varsity student 'kills herself' jumping off rooftop

A private university female student reportedly committed suicide jumping from rooftop of an under-construction building in Cumilla city on Tuesday afternoon.Deceased Zannatul Hasin, 23, was a student of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), and daughter of Idris Mehedi of Jhautala area in the city.
Manzur Kader Moni, councillor of No. 10 ward under Cumilla City Corporation, said they spotted a body of a girl lying on the ground in front of his office this afternoon.
They, later, in a CCTV footage saw the girl jumping from rooftop of a nine-storey under-construction building beside of the office, Moni added.
The deceased's father, Idris Mehedi, said he does not know why his daughter took her own life.
Kotwali Model Police Station officer in-charge Anwarul Haque said they primarily assumed the girl killed herself but details would be known after conducting autopsy of the body.
Family members said Hasin joined Mirpur branch of Mercantile Bank Ltd as an intern after completion of her honours degree at BUBT.
