Man held at HSIA with gold worth Tk 3.20cr05 March 2021

A man was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport ( HSIA) in the early hours of Thursday for allegedly smuggling 5 kg gold worth Tk 3.20 crore into the country, officials said.
Abul Khair, a resident of Cumilla district, was intercepted by customs officials on his arrival from Saudi Arabia around 12:45 am on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner (Preventive) of Dhaka Customs House, said a flight from Saudi Arabia landed at HSIA around 11 pm on Wednesday.
"Based on a tip-off, a Customs Preventive team challenged Abul Khair as he was about to leave the airport and seized 5.2 kg gold worth Tk 3.20 crore from his baggage around 12:45 am," he said.
Abul was detained by customs officials and handed over to the Airport police. A case was also filed, officials said.
