Muntasir Mamun joins Bangabandhu Chair of CU

Professor Dr. Muntasir Mamun,former faculty of Dhaka University (DU) History Department, has taken charge of Bangabandhu Chair of Chittagong University (CU) for next two years. Earlier, he was in charge of Bangabandhu Chair of Dhaka University.
He handed over the joining letter to the Vice-Chancellor of CU Professor Dr.Shireen Akter in the Bangabandhu Chair Room situated in  the third floor of the Central Library of the University On Monday at around 11 am.He was later given a reception by the university family in the library auditorium of the university.
In reception program, newly appointed Bangabandhu Chair Dr.  Muntasir Mamun said, "An organization survives for the people. If it works ethically, it will be well established. My door will always be open for those who want to work with Bangabandhu and Bangladesh.
He also said we have to remember that we are teachers even though we are supporters of the government. We have to fulfill our responsibilities as teachers. To be a good teacher we have to study well and do good research. The teacher will be the teacher, he will not be the employee.  He will get salary, but will work for the country and the nation.
CU VC Prof. Dr.  Shirin Akhtar said our country is moving towards gradual development today. It was not possible to talk about Bangabandhu in this university for a while. Today, that time has come to an end. there will be new research on Bangabandhu.  A thorough research on Bangabandhu is needed.  Bangabandhu's thought must be spread.
The Registrar (Acting) of the University Prof. SM Monirul Hasan spoke at the program where Suhrawardy Hall Provost Professor Mainul Hasan Chowdhury,  former Proctor of the university Professor.  Gazi Saleh Uddin, Proctor.  
Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan, General Secretary of the Teachers Association Professor Manjurul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Sociology Mustafizur Rahman Siddiqui, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Arts Mahibul Aziz, General Secretary of the Officers Association Hamid Hasan Nomani, President of the Employees Association Anwar Hossain, Hathazari Upazila Chairman SM Rashed spoke among others.
Dr.Muntasir Mamun was appointed as  Bangabandhu Chair for two years at the 529th syndicate meeting of the university on February 27.
The Chittagong University authorities introduced a "Bangabandhu Chair" to conduct extensive research on the life and activities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in  2017.
