Eighth grader commits suicide after being gang-raped26 July 2021

An eighth grader committed suicide after she was gang raped by three man in Pekua upazila of Cox's Bazar district.
The incident took place in Hajir Para area of Rajakhali union of the upazila around 2am on Saturday.
Following the incident, the victim's father filed a rape case with Pekua police station accusing three men-Abul Kashem, Md Alamgir and Robi Alam, confirmed Kanan Sarkar, inspector of Pekua police station.
The father said they were at a relative's place when the incident happened. According to his account, the three men forcefully took his daughter to a shack in the Fisheries Project area and raped her. As she screamed, locals rescued her and brought her back home. Later, she committed suicide by drinking poison and died on the way to the hospital.
"I seek the cooperation of the administration to ensure exemplary punishment for the rapists," he added.
Local UP member Nezam Uddin Neju said Abul Kashem has been harassing
the girl for a long time. On Friday, he along with his associates abducted the girl and raped her.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Necessary legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report, said the inspector.
