A customer has brought fraud charges against 11 officials of online marketplace Dhamaka, including its chairman, managing director and CEO, for charging him for products that were not delivered.
One Shamim Khan, a resident of Gazipur's Tongi, filed the case with the Tongi West police on Thursday, said Officer-in-Charge Shah Alam.
"We are investigating the fraud allegation," the police officer told the media.
The plaintiff claims that he had made orders worth Tk11.5 lakh from the site on March 20 and that he was told that the products would be delivered within 45 days.
After waiting for a month past the due date, Dhamaka issued two cheques as refund, but they bounced due to insufficient balance in the accounts, according to the case documents.
Shamim contacted the Dhamaka offices and its CEO Sirajul Islam Rana over the purchases on August 5, when Rana responded with threats, OC Alam said citing case documents.
The 11 people named in the case are Dhamaka Shopping.com Chairman Dr Mojtaba Ali, Vice President Ibrahim Swapan, Managing Director SMD Jasim Uddin Chishti, Deputy Managing Director Nirodh Baran Roy, CEO Sirajul Islam Rana, Assistant General Manager (Accounts) Safwan Ahmed, Chief Business Officer Devkar Dey Shuvo, Nazim Uddin Asif, 26, Deputy Manager Amirul Hossain, Asif Chishti and System Category Head Imtiaz Hasan.
