3 held over torture on transgender beauty vlogger in city

After building friendships with different people using social media platforms, the organised criminal gang used to strategically blackmail the people by capturing offensive pictures / videos for long time.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said this after arresting three people in connection with the sexual assault and attempted murder of a sensational transgender woman (beauty blogger).
This information was given by Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of Law and Media wings of the law enforcers in a press conference held at RAB Media Center in Kawranbazar of the capital on Sunday (January 23).
He said Fuad Amin Ishtiaq alias Sunny, 21, Saima Sikder Nira alias RJ Nira, 23, and Abdullah Afif Sadman alias Rishu, 19, were arrested from Farmgate and Mohakhali areas of the capital from Saturday night to Sunday morning.
During the drive, mobile phones, walkie-talkie sets and toy pistols were seized from them.
Citing the confessions of the detainees, RAB officials added that the detainees first form a friendship through social media. Later, they used to blackmail the victims by capturing offensive pictures / videos in various ways. They also used rented residences for these misdeeds where offensive videos were forcibly recorded.
They also used to trap the victims over online. The detainees identified themselves as army and police officers.
According to the RAB official, accused Rishu, who was arrested a few days ago, was identified with the victim through social media. Flowing that sources, the victim met Rishu on January 10 in front of a restaurant in Bhatara area of the capital.
From there, the victim was taken to Ishtiaq's rented house in Bashundhara residential area. There, Ishtiaq, Nira and Rishu beat, and sexually assault the victim, as well as captured video footage of the victim.
At that time, they snatched the mobile phone, gold ornaments and money from the victim and demanded taka one lakh.
They also intimidated victims with the identity of law enforcement and the military. Asking to take the victim to the police station, they went around different areas of the capital and dropped the victim at Rampura.
After the incident, the victim filed a case with Bhatara Police Station in the capital.
There are two cases against the arrested Ishtiaq in different police stations of the city. He has even already been jailed in various cases, RAB officials added.
