CMCH soon to be upgraded to 2200 beds

26 March 2022

Chattogram Bureau :
The decision to build a new 500-bed infrastructure at Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital has already been announced. According to the proposal, it was decided to build the new infrastructure in place of the old academic building of Chittagong Medical College in front of the hospital. The Public Works Department has announced the construction of a ten-storey building as a 500-bed infrastructure.
However, it was newly known that a 20-storey building will be constructed here instead of a ten-storey building. The Department of Health gives instructions for detailed proposal including floor layout (which floor on which ward) in 20 storey building. After receiving instructions, the CMC Hospital authorities prepared and sent a proposal in this regard earlier this month.
CMC Hospital Director Brigadier General Shamim Ahsan confirmed the information to send the proposal. The hospital director said the new building would have 36 ICUs on one floor and 36 more critical care centers on the other floor (with more modern facilities than ICUs).
