Bid to evade Tk 13 lakh revenue foiled in Ctg Airport

At Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport, 740,000 sticks of foreign cigarettes and dry tobacco were seized from two passengers came from Sharjah, UAE. Customs House Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin Rizvi said the Air Arabia flight (G9522) from Sharjah landed at Airport around 6:30 pm on Tuesday (March 22). Scanning the luggage of the passengers revealed the presence of cigarettes and black colored liquids.
Opening the lid of suspicious luggage, they found 240 mini cartons of cigarettes and 40 pieces of dry tobacco from Mohammad Tayyab and 200 mini cartons of easy brand cigarettes and 250 pieces of dry tobacco (perfume salt nicotine) from Mohammad Harun Rashid.
Attempts were made to evade revenue of Tk 13 lakh by illegally carrying these conditionally imported high duty products.
The seized goods have been confiscated in favor of the state in accordance with the Customs Act 1969 and the prevailing laws and regulations, customs sources added.
