SUB 2nd convocation held in Ctg

The second convocation of Southern University Bangladesh completed on Sunday at Southern University's own campus in Arefin Nagar under Bayazid Police Station.
Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury presided over the convocation with the approval of the President. Professor Mohammad Kaikobad Computer Scientist was present as Convocation Speaker.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Engineer. Mozammel Haque, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Khalilur Rahman were also present at the convocation, 10 students received the Chancellor's Honor Rule Award.
In addition, 39 students are getting Vice Chancellor Honor Rule, 38 Dean Honor Rule and 9 students are getting Graduate Academic Excellence.
A total of 7,853 undergraduate and postgraduate students from different departments will be conferred degrees in the second convocation.
The journey of this university started in 2002 with the dream of world class higher education.
At present, three faculties (Business Administration, Arts, Social Sciences and Law Science and Engineering) have 15 programs including Bachelor's in 9 departments and Masters in 6 departmenr.
BBA in the Faculty of Business Administration, MBA in the Faculty of Hotel Management, Arts, Social Sciences and Law, English, Islamic Studies, LLB, LLM in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Education is going on in the pharmacy department.
About 10,000 students have already graduated from Southern University and about 4,000 students, including foreigners, are currently studying in various departments.
At present 168 teachers are teaching in this University. Each department has multiple full-time professors.
The university has achieved the international standard of proportion. Southern is advancing in various research activities, including the success of UGC and the World Bank's Project HECAP in improving the quality of education, and the implementation of the 10 agendas formulated by the United Nations as a member of the UN's Academic Impact.
Various international conferences are organized regularly.
In Bayazid Arefin Nagar, a huge campus has been built on a 6-acre site to fulfill the dream of world-class education, where the learning environment is not limited to classrooms.
Southern University also has plans to build a mini stadium with residential facilities on three more acres University sources said.
