Colourful water-sprinkling of Rakhine people in port city

After two years of corona pandemic, Rakhine youths became involved in water sports or water festival at Katalganj Nabapandit Bihar in a colourful event.
The water-sprinkling was organised by Bangladesh Rakhine Student Association on Monday. The Rakhine people sprinkled water on each other from the drums. Upananda Mahather, Principal of Katalganj Navpandit Bihar, said that Buddha Puja, Pindana, food intake, Buddha bath and collective prayers were held for the monks from the morning. Finally there was the water play of Rakhine youth.   They are purified for the New Year by sprinkling water on Mars according to the traditional custom. Rakhine people’s New Year celebrations and prayers have been going on in this monastery for 10 years. Water sports are held under the auspices of Bangladesh Rakhine Student Association, he said.
