07 June 2022

Chattogram Bureau :
The horrific explosion at the BM container depot in Sitakunda brought the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) crisis to a head again at the government hospital in Chattogram. Burned and injured patients started coming to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital after 11:00pm after the blast.
Within a couple of hours the burn unit of the hospital was filled with patients. Among them are several critically ill patients. Whose ICU was urgent. At 2 o’clock in the night, the head of the burn unit in the ICU department Rafiq Uddin Ahmed of the hospital told the media.  But not a single bed was reported from the ICU department. At that time, Hasan Shahriar Kabir and Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Elias Chowdhury were sitting in the room of the head of the burn unit. They immediately contacted Chittagong General Hospital. There is also information that more than one or two beds are not vacant. Later, three critically ill patients were taken to Chittagong Combined Military (CMH) Hospital by the director of CMC Hospital. There they were admitted to the ICU. Two patients were shifted to Chittagong General Hospital on Sunday morning in case of emergency ICU. Two more are admitted to the ICU of the private Parkview Hospital. And in the ICU department of CMC Hospital, two beds were vacated yesterday and two critically ill patients were kept there.
