Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran is meeting with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for first time after the general election.
He entered Khaleda's Gulshan office at 8pm Thursday.
BNP's Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, a Vice-Chairman, Osman Farruk, adviser to the BNP chief, were present among others.
The Indian envoy did not have a meeting with the BNP chief after the Jan 5 balloting her party and allies boycotted.
Their last meeting was in the beginning of December last year when India's Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh was meeting the BNP chief along with the High Commissioner in Dhaka.
India has held a different view even though majority of western countries claimed the election did not reflect the will of the people.
Delhi extended its support to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's new government saying the election was necessary for fulfilling constitutional obligations.
BNP leaders before the election had made comments stating it was India's will to keep the Awami League in power. But Khaleda, addressing the media on Wednesday, said she wanted friendly relations with all countries especially the neighbours.
