Md Uzzal Haji, father of prime accused Ashraful Ahsan Jitu in the teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker murder case made confession yesterday in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Dhaka.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Ashrafuzzaman of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Dhaka recorded the confessional statement of accused Uzzal Haji under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
On June 29, Uzzal, father of the prime accused Jitu was placed on a five-day remand in the murder case. On completion of recording the confessional statement, he was sent to the jail.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Investigation Officer of the case, SI Emdaul Haque produced Uzzal in the court to record his statement.
Meanwhile, on June 30, a Dhaka court placed Jitu, a local teen gang leader on a five-day remand and on the occasion no lawyer represented him in the court.
Jitu, a class-10 student of Haji Yunus Ali School and College of Ashulia, killed teacher Utpal with a cricket stump on June 25.
The deceased teacher was the chairman of the disciplinary committee of the school and used to motivate and guide students at different times on various issues.
A few days before the incident, Utpal warned Jitu about being intimate with a girl on the college compound. Jitu got angry over the warning and allegedly planned to attack him.
Jitu then brought a cricket stump to the school on June 25 and attacked teacher Utpal when he was standing in a corner of the playground during a cricket tournament, RAB told the media on the occasion.
