Oil, gas, electricity may go up again

Staff Reporter :
The government is thinking of adjusting oil, gas and electricity prices in the country in line with the international market.
"We are looking forward to the electricity price adjustment. We want adjustment on gas and we think there should be an oil adjustment as well," said Nasrul Hamid Bipu, State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, while talking to journalists at his Baridhara's residence on Friday.
He said, "Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has already incurred loss of Tk 8000 crore. It is a big amount.  It doesn't matter whether the prices are increased or declined. Rather, there should be an adjustment in line with the international market."
Citing that action will be taken to stop the unnecessary use of government vehicles, the State
Minister said, "Those who use vehicles should pay attention to saving fuel. We have already informed it all the ministries."
"Action will be taken, if the government vehicle is used everywhere instead of doing the work for which it is given," said Nasrul Hamid.
He further said, "One thing must be understood, we can't make a decision based on whatever people said. Different people say different. The situation was not before the Russia-Ukraine war. Rather it has been changed since the beginning of the war."
"The sudden rise in oil and gas prices has created a temporary problem and the people are advising the government as per their own choice. It is the traditional nature of Bangali people. But we have to resolve the problem scientifically," he said.
