Chy Abdullah Al-Mamun takes charge as IGP

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Friday took the charge as Bangladesh's 31st Inspector General of Police.
He replaced Benazir Ahmed.
Earlier, the government appointed director general of Rapid Action Battalion Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun as the new IGP.
A gazette notification was issued in this regard by the Ministry of Home Affairs' Public Security Division.
Meanwhile, Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) M Khurshid Hossain is taking over as the new Rab DG.
Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun took charge as RAB DG on April 8, 2020. Prior to this, he served as the Chief of Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Abdullah Al Mamun was born on January 12, 1964 in Sunamganj. Joined as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1982 as a BCS (Police) officer. He was promoted to the post of Additional IGP in May 2019. Earlier he was the DIG of Dhaka range.
Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun received 'Bangladesh Police Medal' (BPM) and 'President Police Medal' (PPM) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the police. Besides, the government promoted him to grade-1 on October 18 last year.
During his career, Abdullah Al Mamun served in the Police Headquarters, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Armed Police Battalion and important units of various districts. In addition, he has made a brilliant contribution to the maintenance of world peace in the United Nations.
