Medical student injured in stabbing dies in Dhaka

A medical student, who was stabbed in Bogura district on November 23, died at a private hospital in Dhaka on Sunday.
Deceased Meheraj Hossain Fahim, 26, was son of Nur Mohammed, hailed from Dhaka's Sabujbagh. He was a final-year student at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College.
Student of the medical college blocked the Bogura-Rangpur highway in Silimpur area at about 4.30pm demanding justice over the death of their classmate.
Fahim engaged in altercation with food vendors Shakil and Farid for serving him unhygienic food on November 23. At one stage of the altercation, Shakil stabbed the student with a knife, leaving him severely injured.
He was then taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Fahim was sent to a hospital in critical condition in Dhaka on November 28.
He breathed his last in the afternoon, said Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College deputy director Dr Abdul Wadud.
Police arrested Shakil and Farid in this connection on November 24.
