Sugar price rises by Tk 5 per kg

Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association has increased the prices of sugar by Tk 5 per kg with effect from February 1.
According to a press release issued by the association on Thursday, the loose sugar will be sold at Tk 107 per kg and packaged sugar will be retailed at Tk 112 per kg.
According to the release, the price of unrefined sugar per kg has been set at Tk 107 and the price of packaged sugar has been set at Tk 112,
The association claimed that they took the decision considering the increase in the global market price of raw sugar and the increase in the dollar exchange rate and production cost. The decision has been made after discussion with the Ministry of Commerce.
