RAB rescues father hiding with Japanese daughter

02 February 2023

Staff Reporter :
The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued Bangladeshi-born US citizen Imran Sharif who went in hiding with his Japanese daughter ignoring court order.
Earlier on January 29, Durdana Rahman, judge of Dhaka's Second Additional Assistant Judge and Family Court, handed down an order as to the two children will stay with their Japanese mother Nakano Erico.
However, Imran Sharif went in hiding along with his little daughter ignoring the verdict.
Later, a team of elite force conducted a drive and rescued the man with his daughter from Kalachandpur in the capital on Wednesday.
RAB Director (Legal and Media Wing) Commander Khandaker Al Moin has confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday and said, the court ruled that the two Japanese children will be on behalf of the Japanese mother. But the police could not find the little girl along with the father. RAB received information that the father went into hiding with the little girl without handing over the child to the mother, ignoring the court's verdict.
After receiving such a complaint, the father Imran Sharif, who was hiding in Kalachandpur area under Gulshan Police Station of the capital, was taken into custody along with his little daughter based on intelligence information. Legal action is in process to enforce the court's judgment. The Japanese mother was expected to file a new appeal for the children's return to court on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Japanese mother Nakano Eriko tried to escape on Tuesday night with her eldest daughter Jasmine Malika for the second time in defiance of the court's verdict. Immigration police turned them away from Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport due to court order. However, it was not initially known which country he was trying to go to.
