Book Fair sees huge crowd on weekend

Children gather at the Sisimpur square at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2023 on Bangla Academy premises in the capital on Friday to celebrate the ‘Shishu Prahar’.

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2023 drew a huge crowd with a large number of readers, writers and publishers gathering especially children on the first Friday, as it was the weekly holiday.
Hundreds of men, women and children thronged the fair full of festivity and excitement. The children wearing colorful dresses were wadded around the fairground especially at Shishu Corner to enjoy different event including Sisimpur with much exuberance.
This was first Shishu Prahar especially dedicated to children has begun at the Suhrawardy Udyan fairgrounds. The children's yard location has been change to near the main gate of the fair.
After inauguration of the Shishu Prahar, Ikri, Hallum, Tuktuki, and Shiku, the characters of the Television series Sisimpur, played with children and pleasured them by singing and dancing.
Muhammed Zafar Iqbal and KM Muzahidul Islam, Member Secretary of the Book Fair Management Committee, inaugurated the Shishu Corner.
After the inauguration of the Shishu Prahar, Zafar Iqbal told to the guardians to give book to their children's hand instead of mobile phones.
"Everyone should be encouraged to read books. Many people keep their mobiles to the children's hands while eating. I request to the parents, 'do not give mobile, give them books'. When they learn to read, they will read themselves," he added.

Book Fair with his father. He bought three books one ghost stories, one drawing book and another rhymes book, but he said that his main intention to come to the fair to see Sisimpur. He said, "I am very cheerful to seen the dancing of Sisimpur's characters."
"I like to ask question like Ikri. I love Ikri for this. I come to Book Fair and will enjoy a lot of. I want to buy a lot of book," Nazia Islam, student of fifth class, said.
Moreover, stalls representative and publisher were pissing busy time mentioning the core concepts of book and buying.
Publishers say we are usually waiting for Friday. "It was first Friday. Now those who come at the fair, most of them are also just seeing book but the sells is also good," Monirul Islam, Publisher of Annona publishing house, said.
On the three consecutive days of the fair, 96 new books have published that day. A discussion was held titled 'Remember: Abul Maal Abdul Muhit'.
