DB's final report clears Bushra, settles on suicide

Fardin Noor Parash

Staff Reporter  :
Detective Branch (DB) of police submitted the final report before a Dhaka court to acquit Amatullah Bushra in a case filed over the death of her friend and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash, (24), on Monday.
Investigation officer and DB inspector Yasin Shikder filed the report with general registration wing of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court. The case, however, is scheduled to be heard on February 14.
Dhaka 7th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Tehsin Iftekhar on January 8 granted bail to Amatullah Bushra.
Earlier, DB officials said they have found no involvement of Bushra in the death of Fardin, who they believe committed suicide. Police on November 10, 2022, arrested Bushra from her Rampura flat and produced her before the court, pleading to place her on seven-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan had placed her on five-day remand on that day.
Earlier, Fardin, a third-year student of civil engineering at BUET went missing on November 5 and his body was found in the Shitalakshya River on November 7, 2022, three days after he went missing.
After investigating the incident for over a month, the Detective Branch and Rab in December last year said Fardin died by suicide after jumping off a bridge into the river.
A day later, DB Chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said they did not find Bushra's involvement in the incident.
