Bus-train collision snaps rail link between Dhaka and rest of country

A Kamalapur-bound train has collided with an empty Shohagh Paribahan bus at a level crossing in Dhaka's Malibagh.
The collision on Wednesday evening led to the closure of the railway track, police said.
But there were no casualties in the incident, according to Dhaka Railway Police Station Sub-Inspector Mukhlesur Rahman, reports bdnews24.com
Kamalapur Railway Station Master Anwar Hossain said that after the collision between the train and the bus at the Malibagh railway gate at night, the rail communication between Dhaka and other districts has been suspended.
"Our team is working there. Train connectivity will be normal after the bus is removed from the train line," he added.
Two units of the fire service reached the spot after receiving information about the accident.
They are working to remove the bus, Fire Service media officer Anwar Hossain Dolan corroborated the matter.
He said that a bus of Sohag Paribahan was returning to Dhaka from Benapole in Jessore. The bus was empty as it dropped off the passengers in Malibagh and Mouchak areas.
"As a result, no casualty was reported in the incident," he said.
