12.28 lakh SIM users left Dhaka on Tuesday

Ahead of Eid ul- Fitr, some 12.28 lakh mobile SIM subscribers of different mobile operators  connections left Dhaka and a total of 6,67,783 SIM subscribers returned to Dhaka in a single day, on April 18.
Mustafa Jabbar, the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology revealed  the information at a post on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday.
Among the outflow from the capital, 3,34,295 were Grameenphone users, 3,02,284 Robi users, 5,73,509 Banglalink users, and 18,190 Teletalk users. While the people with  SIMs entered Dhaka on Tuesday,  1,28,970 were Grameenphone users; 1,06,863 Robi users, 4,22,600 Banglalink users, and 9,350 Teletalk users.
Regarding this issue the Telecom Minister said to the journalists, "I have collected data from the mobile operators. I think people started leaving Dhaka on a big scale since April 17".
It couldn't be determined how many people exactly left or entered Dhaka with the figures, as a person can have multiple SIMs. However, on an average, each people have 1.5 SIMs, he added.
According to the industry insiderers, the total number of SIM users in Bangladesh  is 18 crore with 12 crore are unique mobile users. Still, millions of children, elderly and poor people have no mobile phonesets.
