HSIA cleaner held with 40 gold bars

Customs officials have detained a cleaner with 40 gold bars worth Tk 20 million at the Shahjalal International Airport.
Jainal, 45, a cleaner of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was nabbed around 12 noon on Wednesday, said Quamrul Hassan, assistant commissioner of Customs Department.
The customs officials recovered the gold bars weighing 4.5 kg while searching his shoes after he came out cleaning an aircraft of Malaysian Airways, Quamrul said. Legal action has been initiated against him, the customs official said. There have been numerous cases of gold seizures both at the Dhaka and Chittagong airports since the middle of last year.
